James is our specialist in Employment Law, Litigation & Professional Negligence. He joined us in 2000, after studying Law at Birmingham University and completing his training contract at a prominent local niche litigation practice. He has progressed quickly, becoming a Partner in 2006.

Amongst the team, James is renowned for getting things done.  As the youngest Partner, he is not backwards in coming forward and he has his sights set firmly on the future, welcoming change to ensure the firm always remains one step ahead.

James relishes the challenge of all contentious work and the variety that this offers – whilst the legal framework remains the same, he loves the fact that every case is fact specific and throws up different legal issues.

James lives by his belief,  “There is no escalator to success, you must take the stairs.” A phrase coined by his school teacher which inspired him during his years of study and which continues to guide him today.

James lives with his partner in Moseley –  he is passionate about travel but ironically lives within just 100m of where he was born.

With a thirst for adventure, James has travelled all over the world; his favourite place being Whistler in Canada, where he can indulge his passion for skiing.

On the local front, James can regularly be spotted at CBSO events, particularly on the nights when his partner (who is a member of the CBSO Chorus) is singing.

James supports the Birmingham Dogs’ Home and is also a trustee of the Sir John Middlemore Charitable Trust.
