Coley & Tilley we have a team of specialist solicitors who have many years experience of dealing with all types of personal injury and accident claims. We deal with claims of all values from £1,000 to over £2 million.
We are members of the Law Society's Specialist Personal Injury Panel and the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers. We are dedicated to acting in the best interests of accident victims.
We always offer a free first interview to assess whether you have a viable claim with a reasonable chance of success and are always willing to visit clients at home or in hospital, where appropriate. It is always worthwhile seeking legal advice whether a claim can be made as the law of personal injury can often be complex.
We aim to secure rehabilitation where appropriate and to obtain the maximum amount of damages in each individual case.
The following are the most common types of claims which we deal with, but they are not intended to be comprehensive.
Accidents at work
You may be entitled to claim compensation for an accident at work if it can be proved that someone else is at fault. This may be your employer, a fellow employee, or another company.
If you are successful in any claim you will recover compensation for your pain and suffering and compensation for any financial losses such as loss of earnings or medical expenses.
We always offer a free first interview, so it is always worthwhile seeking legal advice as to whether a claim can be made as the law on Employers' Liability can often be complicated.
Accidents on the road
Unfortunately there is a substantial risk that you or a member of your family may be involved in a road traffic accident at some time in your lifetime, either as a driver, passenger, cyclist or pedestrian.
You may still be entitled to compensation even if the person responsible for the accident was not insured or even if they were not traced. In such cases it may be possible to make an application for compensation to the Motor Insurer's Bureau.
Accidents in public places
Every year thousands of people are injured in a public place. They often arise from accidents involving tripping or falling, i.e. upon defective pavements, or slipping in shops. We also frequently handle claims arising from playground accidents, dog bites or other incidents in which the public is exposed to danger. This is often a complex area of law and it is essential that you seek specialist advice.
Criminal injuries
The Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority was established to administer a statutory compensation scheme for victims of violent crime. We are able to assist clients who wish to pursue claims through the CICA. It is essential that you report the incident as quickly as possible to the police and co-operate fully with them. Failure to do so can mean that the CICA will refuse to compensate the victim. You should seek advice as soon as possible as there are time limits on making such a claim.
Legal costs
You may already have the benefit of legal expenses insurance which is sometimes included within a household or motor-car insurance policy. Please bring with you to any initial interview any such insurance policies so that we can check whether you have any legal expenses insurance cover. We will then approach insurers on your behalf to secure cover for your claim.
Alternatively if you do not have any existing legal expense insurance, and assuming that your claim has a reasonable prospect of success, we will generally be willing to deal with your claim on a no win no fee basis. We will advise you in detail on all funding options at your initial interview.
